Just tossin' this idea around....I've got the time, I'll figure out how to pay my way, just curious if there are any other brave souls out there that might wanna tackle sumpin' like this???
Get a bunch of NON H-D Chops and Bobs together, from all over the USA and Canada, meet up in Chicago, and have our own 2 wheeled power tour. Chicago to Cali ROUTE 66, NO interstates...with no more than about a 200-250 mile stretch, per day. Plenty of time for sight seeing, picture taking, and just enjoying the ride...
Leave Chicago some where around the 15th of April.....hmmmmmm. 900 miles to Chi town, 2000+ to the Pacific, then 2500 back home, in 30 days.... I'm game. Anyone wanna start a plan.

Here's m 'round trip budget, so far...
April is 9 months away, roughly...plenty of time for planning...I don't know how I'm gonna afford it, unless I sell something, whicH ain't a proplem for a ride of a lifetime.
This is what I'm guesstimating will be my expenses based on today's fuel prices.
From Georgia, to Illinois, to Calif., to Georgia...roughly 6000 miles= 150 gallons of gas
$600.00 gas
$900.00 food
$1500.00 lodging(I don't sleep on the ground no mo'guys) MOTEL 6 or cheaper!
$200.00 souvenirs, and shipping home
$100.00 laundromat
$700.00 emergency fund
$3200.00 for a month on the road, and that is subject to increase with fuel prices.
Be realistic in figurring your budget guys. Depending on how far you travel, and be sure you have the bike ready to go...tires, tune, oil, chain, etc.....

I'm pimpin' this idea on the Delphi VLX forum too. forums.delphiforums.com/VLXriders/messagespost # 26870.1 "Anyone Interested? " Not intent on bashing, but this is a NON H-D ride....pimp it anywhere you can, but it is for NON American Bobbers and Chops. Pack light, and haul your own load... like we did it in the 60-70's, before baggers were cool.

26870.15 in reply to 26870.14 I knew it was gonna happen.... I do been accussed of being an elitist, or a snob, of sorts, on the Spirit forum. Not viciously, and no harm done, but the exclusion of H-D's has already raised a few eyebrows. H-D's, are in all rides. I realy wanted to show case alternate, ridden, higher mpg, LOWER COST bikes that are out there, being customized, and RIDDEN. And get some of us together, that might never meet, otherwise. I'm probably wrong for starting this thing, and nothing is wrtten in concrete, but I am looking for at least a 2 week ride, next Spring. Rt66 would be the ride to end all rides. A Southern tour, from Ga., across Texas would be a blast. Ga., to Laconia... I don't care where, but I wanna do ALL METRICS. If on the road and some H-D's tag on for a while fine, I won't ask them to leave, but initial planning will be without them. AM I WRONG? L8tr, g8tr kliff

Fuck them. Ride what you wanna ride. Those that are so set on HD are most of the time either weekend warriors or key board commandos. People spend to much time worried about what everybody else is thinking to think for themselves. I have nothing against HD's, most of the guys I ride with ride them. But this HD or nothing attitude is crap.

May have to regroup a little, and stay a bit closer to home... Possibly a "roundy 'bout" of Ga/FLA... Lott's of good riding, sites to see, and places to eat. And wouldn't be much more than a day from home, if I had to boogy..... Speakng of good eating.... found this place last year....EXCELLENT! Hwy 40, outside of Barberville...

GA/FLA I'm in. I am getting married on March 20 so anything that doesn't interfere with that or my honeymoon I am in. I am right by Tampa in West-Central FL so I can get home in a day from anywhere in FL or GA. Lots of great riding in North Florida and all of Georgia. I have a blast anytime I ride through there.
