A remote oil filter mount today. Since Cathy is sorta down for a week to 10 days again, I'll start turning the internal part of the filter adaptor, on my mini lathe, in the back room...
I'll try to get some pics, but this is bound to be a slow project, so don't expect too much right away. ;D
Goals, when done:
Larger filter capacity, by probably 5 times. An additional 3/4 > 7/8 qt oil capacity Oil cooler, for extended highway running Oil pressure guage Fun fabbing another part, rather than buying the kit.

Actually got started this week end, whittling the internal filter adaptor on my little back room lathe.. And started layout on the 1" thick cover plate... Yeah, it's still hard to tell what's happenning there, but yami didn't use a symetrical bolt pattern, so finding center, and aligning the prospective "o" ring was a tad bit tedious... The simplest part was the filter adaptor/mount... That'll be close to an extra quart of oil.... More pics, as work progreses.

Finished, installed, working! Kinda rough, or industrial looking? EXACTAMUNDO. I could have buffed, polished, refined the shape, made an auxillary cover....but no....NO! This is the BlackTop "Special," it rates right up there with road equipment, paving equipment....FUNCTION over form. 5psi @ 1000rpm idle (1.2 factory minimum), 20psi at 2000rpm, 40psi at 4000... I'm pleased. Visually, and functionally, it does what I designed it to do. A little header wrap, just for some added protection, and that phase will be complete. NEXT.....seat! Yeah, I'm already started, and no, the rusty angle iron isn't the finished produt...LOL, and no the toled leather seat ain't for sale. But this vinyl will hold up better to day to day rain and yuck stuff....the "toolie" will be for special occassions...

Leave it to an -D accessory to fail! The ol pressure gage, brand new, but hanging on the wall still packaged for the past 5 years....took a dump. Les than 15 miles on it.
Yeah, got a few minutes to take a ride and clear my head, glance down, and my oil pressure is dissappearing.....quick! So I head home. Dad has some precision low pressure gages, so I hook one up, to check things out, afraid my filter relo package may be over taxxing the oil pump. NOPE....pump, pressure, flow, all is A-OK. Fucking 80.00 H-D gage is a piece of chit!
Long story short, I'll be re-doing the gage, when time allows, for now, I'm back on watch with Cathy.
