Gas/Petrol smell

Hi all,

I started the Reaper up and got a smell of gas/petrol.

I cleaned the air filter. I checked all pipes etc, I think it's carb related.

Also, when I revved it a plume of black smoke came out the rear end of the bottom pipe/front cyl, but only lasted a few seconds.

Thoughts gentlemen? And ladies.

Possible float sticking open on the front carb.

Would the bike still run normally in motion etc?

Yup. A float can be marginally sticking open, or have a small piece of trash between the needle and seat, giving that smell, and puffing out the exhaust. Whereas, a float stuck full open will foul the plug and diminish performance.
